David Howell is a painter who is based at his studio in North Yorkshire, England. He works in watercolour, oils and pastels and is a regular exhibitor with galleries, both in the UK and internationally. He is primarily a painter of landscape and marine subjects but is also well known for his equestrian racing pictures, plus occasional forays into life work, field sports and anything else that takes his fancy. David works on location as much as possible and is just as likely to be found sitting by a canal in Venice as dragging an easel through the Arabian desert.

David is well known as an enthusiastic and inspiring teacher and is the author of a number of book related to painting and is a regular contributor of articles for magazines and other publications. He is a past-president of the Royal Society of Marine Artists and an honoury member of the Pure Watercolour Society.
