Pyrenula macrospora
Pyrenula macrospora

In the foreground the picture shows a P. macrospora mosaic completely covering a young smooth Hazel pole. Three small thalli of Graphis scripta are also shown. A young cushion moss (Ullota sp) is depicted growing on the pole. Hazel poles like this are typical of the best Atlantic hazel woods in Argyll. In the background is a hazel trunk and branch with Hypocreopsis rhododendri (Hazel gloves fungus) and Hymenochaete corrugata (the glue fungus). Both occupy a very similar habitat within Atlantic hazel woods.
