When Antony Gormley placed his figures on Crosby beach did he perceive how wonderfully his art would blend into the living landscape of colour that the passage of the earth through the universe would provide, his iron men contrast beautifully with the glowing molten liquid of the sea and the dark silhouettes of industry.
